No ports have to be opened in your router or firewall. Because both sides have dynamic public IPs you will have to use a dyndns service, which is available for free. In the dropdown menu, select 'Settings' if youre on PC, or 'Preferences' if youre on a Mac. There are free clients for Windows and Android (and perhaps Apple, too) that support easily to implement client-to-client VPNs. Launch Steam on your computer and select 'Steam' in the top-left corner of the screen. If you have security concerns or want to leave the connection open forever you may use openvpn. It might be a good idea to disable port forwarding as soon as you are back home and enable it only when needed. Depending on the security level of your router and possilble undiscovered exploits in Steam somebody may take control over your computer or install malware. You are easily vulnerable from outside leaving the ports open! There are port scanners running that randomly scan public IP adresses for open ports. You may have to allow the incoming ports in your firewall, too. After closing the Big Picture mode on your mobile you even have full access to your Windows desktop. Once the connection is working and your port forwarding ist enabled, Steam Link will find your (switched on, connected to internet and running Steam) computer from anywhere in the world. ![]() You need to verify the connection by entering the PIN Steam is telling you. ![]() Install the Steam Link App, start it once in your local network while Steam is running. You don't need anything but the port forwarding in your router. I also did try another Google 'Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast with Google TV' (yes I own multiple of these ethernet. Host PC at 3840 x 2160 60fps, client GCwGTV '4k 60Hz'. Just pair a Bluetooth controller or Steam Controller to your device, connect to a computer running Steam, and start playing your existing Steam games. I normally use a USB DAC for audio output, which generally complicates things when capturing audio for streaming, though the log does say "Audio source ", and turning off, changing the volume, or plugging/unplugging headphones from the DAC didn't have any effect on the volume.I tried this today. I tried just about every Steam Link host and client setting, but it didn't ever change the capture at 1920x1080p 60fps according to the Steam Link performance overlay.
